Hapag-Lloyd Raises Surcharges for Asia to Latin America Routes

Hapag-Lloyd has announced an increase in General Rate Increases (GRI) for shipments from Asia to South America’s West Coast, East Coast, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. The new surcharges will take effect on April 1 (with Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands included from April 19).
Key Details of the GRI
Effective Date: April 1, 2024 (April 19 for Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands).
Surcharge Rates:
$500 per TEU.
$1,000 per FEU.
Validity: The new GRI will remain in effect until further notice.
Covered Regions
Asia: Mainland China, Macau, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos, and Brunei.
South America West Coast, Mexico, Central America, and Caribbean: Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands.
South America East Coast: Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
