According to the latest statistics from Alphaliner, as of May 7, 2022, Evergreen Shipping has a total capacity of 201 ships and 1,509,654 TEU, surpassing ONE and ranking sixth in the world. At the same time, Evergreen Shipping also has an order capacity of 65 ships and 627,196TEU.

The data shows that in 2022, the newly delivered container ship capacity in the world will be about 950,000 TEU, of which, the new capacity of Evergreen Shipping will reach 193,400 TEU, accounting for more than 20% of the global proportion.

This means that after the delivery of nearly 200,000 TEU of new capacity this year, the capacity of Evergreen Shipping will exceed 1.7 million TEU, which will not only further widen the gap with ONE, but also the capacity of Hapag-Lloyd, which ranks fifth in the world. It will be very close, and the market share will increase significantly.

In fact, Evergreen Shipping has a clear plan in terms of fleet upgrades. In 2021, it has thrown out two large orders for new shipbuilding, which shocked the industry.

In March 2021, Evergreen Shipping announced that in order to meet operational needs, it will order 20 15,000TEU vessels at a transaction price of US$115 million to US$130 million per vessel, with a total transaction value of US$2.3 billion to US$2.6 billion.

In September of that year, Evergreen Shipping made another move to order 24 regional container ships, including 11 3000TEU ships, 11 2300TEU ships and 2 1800TEU ships. The transaction price is US$28 million to US$51 million each. The total transaction value was between $958 million and $1.098 billion.

The two orders total 44 vessels, involving a capacity of 360,000 TEU, and the total transaction value exceeds US$3 billion.

Evergreen Shipping, which attaches so much importance to the upgrading of its fleet, has indeed tasted the sweetness.

In July 2021, Evergreen Shipping's first 24,000TEU container ship, EVER ACE, was put into operation on the European boutique route CEM. EVER ACE is also one of the largest container ships in the world. This move has comprehensively upgraded the capacity class and space scale of Ocean Alliance's Asia-Europe route.

In 2022, Evergreen Shipping will launch six 24,000TEU ultra-large ships, and its capacity advantage is expected to be further expanded. Just in March 2022, Evergreen Shipping once again announced the order to build three 24,000TEU super large ships.

A spokesman for Evergreen Shipping said: "We will continue to study various types of ships and will order or lease the most suitable ships according to market demand. We will continue to advance the fleet renewal plan, optimize services and improve competition. force."

Xie Huiquan, general manager of Evergreen Shipping, once again clearly mentioned at the 2021 performance briefing that the fleet will continue to expand. From 2022 to 2026, about 42 new ships will be delivered, with a capacity increase of 550,000 TEU.

In the first quarter of 2022, Evergreen Shipping's performance continued to rise. The revenue was NT$170.82 billion, or about US$5.75 billion; the net profit attributable to the parent was NT$101.36 billion, or about US$3.41 billion.

Looking forward to the market prospects in the second half of 2022, Evergreen Shipping optimistically expects that due to the continuous launch of new ships in the second half of the year, it can effectively supplement the market capacity and its performance will continue to improve.

Evergreen Shipping expects that its performance in 2022 will continue to rise significantly on the basis of 2021. The annual revenue will reach NT$692.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 41%, and the net profit attributable to the parent is NT$367.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 54%.
