Hapag-Lloyd acquires Italy's Spinelli Group

Hapag-Lloyd announced on its official website that it has reached a cooperation agreement with the Italian logistics Spinelli Group, and Hapag-Lloyd will acquire up to 49% of the shares of Spinelli Group.

The Spinelli family will continue to hold a 51% stake after the transaction closes.


For now, the parties have agreed not to disclose any financial details of the transaction, which is subject to approval by the responsible antitrust authorities and is expected to close in the coming months.


According to the data, the Spinelli Group acquired by Hapag-Lloyd this time has a lot of background. It is a giant that is dubbed by the industry as mastering half of the Italian ports, yards, roads and warehousing. It has been in operation for nearly 60 years.

Spinelli Group has been a leader in transport and port logistics since 1963. Spinelli provides shipping companies with services across the entire container logistics chain, including port terminal services, intermodal solutions, container yard and repair, warehouse and customs agency activities.


Spinelli Group's competitive advantage is based on the strength of its network and its ability to efficiently connect customers to the main Italian ports.



It is reported that Spinelli provides port container transportation services for shipping companies in Genoa, La Spezia, Livorno, Naples, Salerno, Taranto, Gioia Tauro, Cagliari and Venice.


In addition, Spinelli has operational bases for road transport in Genoa, Padua, Livorno, Milan; Arluno, La Spezia; Santo Stefano Magra and Dinazzano and uses its fleet of more than 600 vehicles for transport; Spinelli also operates in northern and central Italy Multimodal transportation center.
