UAE tanker ( Gulf Petroleum 4 ) explosion

On the morning of May 6, local time, a chemical tanker named GULF PETROLEUM 4 exploded during maintenance and repairs in Tuzla, Turkey, and one of its cylinders leaked carbon dioxide gas. At present, 4-5 people are known to have been poisoned and died due to the gas leak, at least 4 of them were crew members.


Rescue workers have gone to the scene to rescue, and the rescue operation is still going on.


It is understood that the ship departed from the port of Khoms in Liberia and is currently docked at the port of Tuzla in Turkey.



The oil tanker GULFPETROLEUM 4 (IMO:9439345) was built in 2009 (13 years old) and is currently flying the Liberian flag. It has a carrying capacity of 13,006 dwt and a draft of 6.1 meters. The overall length (LOA) is 129 meters and the width is 23 meters.


The cause of the accident is currently under further investigation.
