The Port of Charleston is shipping port on the Atlantic coast of the United States. The port code is USCHA. It is also a historic urban center with deep national historical roots. The Port of Charleston is located at the mouth of the confluence of the Ashley and Cooper Rivers, on the central coast of South Carolina, 138 kilometers northeast of the Mississippi River, and the Port of Savannah, about 245 kilometers southwest of Georgia, and the Port of Wilmington , North Carolina.

Wando Welch Terminal (WWT)

WWT Terminal is one of the nation's leading container terminals and the largest terminal in the Port of Charleston. The terminal has state-of-the-art container cranes, RTGs, IT systems and a team of experienced professionals. Equipped with 12 rear Panamax cranes, 30 RTGs, 19 top cranes and 12 empty handlers. Covering a total area of more than 400 acres, the transportation volume accounts for about 78% of the port's annual container throughput. WWT can handle container ships of all sizes, but its cranes and docks are specialized and can handle 3 Pamanax vessels simultaneously with a maximum capacity of 20,000 TEU.

Jointly operated by SCPA and Ceres Marine, a container cargo terminal on the terminal with direct access to Interstates 26 and 526.

Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal

The first phase of the terminal, which opens in 2021, will add 700,000 TEU of annual throughput capacity to the Port of Charleston. When fully expanded, the three-berth terminal will double the South Carolina port's existing capacity by adding 2.4 million TEUs of capacity.

The Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal complements the modernization of the Wando Welch Terminal and deepens the Port of Charleston to 52 feet. These investments will allow SC Ports to handle four 14,000-TEU vessels simultaneously in 2021.

North Charleston Terminal (NCT)

The NCT terminal is equipped with 6 post-Panamax container cranes, a fleet of Konecrane RTGs, state-of-the-art IT systems, and a team of waterfront professionals to efficiently and seamlessly unload containers and transfer them to trucks. NCT handles about 22% of the total port container volume and specializes in handling container ships of 8,000 TEU and below.

The Port of Charleston also has three integrated non-container terminals for bulk and ro-ro cargoes, with specialized handling capacity, whether moving forest products, metals, heavy equipment, engineering cargo or any other traditional bulk commodity.
